Annual Meeting Russian American Pacific Partnership (RAPP) Opened in Khabarovsk
Representatives from US diplomatic circles, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, businesses and investors are taking part in it. Greeting the participants of the meeting Mayor Kravchuk invited American businesses to invest in Khabarovsk.
“I offer American companies to consider the possibility to start their business in our city. The turnover of Khabarovsk companies has increased by 1,4 times for the last 5 years, the industrial output – 1,3 times, catering turnover – 2 times. There are 825 big and medium-sized in Khabarovsk. Almost 70 % of them are profitable. Industrial enterprises have spent 300 million rubbles on
technical re-equipping and production upgrading”, the mayor announced to the participants of the RAPP meeting.
A lot of joint projects in the sphere of ecology, healthcare, culture, sport and education have been realized for more than three decades since the signing of sister-cities treaty between Khabarovsk and Portland. US Consul General in Vladivostok Mr. Michael Keays highlighted that the relationships between Khabarovsk and Portland are on a high level.
RAPP participants are going to discuss the development of investments, economical partnership, cooperation in the sphere of tourism, ecology and science during the next two days. RAPP was founded in 1994 as a bilateral forum engaging the private-sector and government to identify and address barriers to business and commerce between the Russian East and the United States. The meeting in Khabarovsk is taking place for the first time.
