Alexander Sokolov was among the passengers on the first flight. Yakutia airline used Sukhoi Superjet plane for the first flight. The first passengers were the heads of travel agencies and businessmen who went to Fuyuan to create new tours during summer river navigation. The prices for the first packaged tours were between 1900 and 4000 rubles, depending on the type of the hotel ant the length of stay. All the tours were sold out very fast. The low price is explained by the fact that the flight was sponsored by a big Chinese travel agency. The trip was a bit longer than an hour because the route was via Jiamusi. The way back takes no more than half an hour. The Chinese party is working out the issue about the direct flight from Khabarovsk at the moment.
Two airports started cooperation two years ago. East Pole airport management have been preparing all necessary documents for a long time. The airport has been included in different registers and customs post has been opened to receive international flights. There are going to be five technical flights Khabarovsk – Fuyuan – Khabarovsk till April, 20. The parties have to adjust the system of cooperation in the sphere of tourists and aircraft services. East Pole airport now has a temporary permission for the air traffic with Khabarovsk. It’s still regional. It may be given an international status after the technical flights.
A new era of the strengthening of trade, sporting and cultural relations between Khabarovsk and Fuyuan is coming. This issue was discussed during the negotiations between the mayors of Khabarovsk and Fuyuan. According to Mayor Zhang Zitong a lot of the Chinese want to visit Khabarovsk and in its turn Fuyuan welcomes Russians. A lot of goods may now be delivered to the Duty Free Centre in Fuyuan by plane.
Mayor Sokolov also mentioned the importance of the flight for tourists. It will make travelling around China easier. He pointed out that a regular flight would promote business, cultural and sport exchanges between the cities. Tourists from Khabarovsk may fly to another Chinese city or another country via Fuyuan.
A Protocol of Intentions on future joint events for this year was signed during the negotiations. The following events are going to take place this year: 3rd International Educational Conference, a cycle race on Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island, a joint race walking festival in Khabarovsk, a mass media exchange project that will allow to make reports about the cities. The flights will be stopped during the summer river navigation. The airport will be getting an international status. According to the spoke people from Yakutia airline the air traffic between Khabarovsk and Fuyuan will begin in November.
