Alexander Nikolayevich Sokolov was born on June 1950 year in Danilovka village, Smidovichesky area of Khabarovsk krai.

His childhood and school-time he spent in Smidovich village. After graduation from school in 1967year he went to work as an apprentice of artificer to plant named after Gorky of Khabarovsk city. At that time there has been working his older brother. He was drafted to Soviet army in 1968 year. Served in Far-Eastern military. After completed a military service, returned to the plant, where he worked as an artificer-collector, senior engineer-dispatcher, senior technologist, received distance education in Khabarovsk institute of rail transport engineers, which he graduated in 1980 year.

Alexander Nikolayevich active life position is aim to be at the center of events. From 1974 till 1981 year he was working as a secretary of Komsomol committee of the plant named after Gorky and later as a first secretary of Railway raikom. There was always specific target at work: improvement of working conditions at the plant and recreation of youth, at the raikom there were formation of youth troops for construction of the important district objects, also opening of adolescent clubs, sports squares, accomplishment of district.

From 1981 till 1983 year Alexander Nikolayevich worked as a deputy of industrial transport division of the Railway raikom party. He was elected in 1983 year as a secretary of partkom of the factory named upon Gorky, and by 1986 year became its director. At that time factory was experienced some problem. There was problem with government order accomplishment, welfare problems were required to be resolved. Under the supervision of new director, collective of the factory familiarize them self with two defensive orders, a few products for national economy business, over 400 family workers received a new housing, great development have received a horticultural society.

On 1989 year was made a decision by authority to make Alexander Nikolayevich as a first secretary of Khabarovsk gorkom.

There was democracy election in 1990 year at the City council of public deputies in Khabarovsk. Sokolov has won twice: was deputize and as a chairman of City council of public deputies. Once again he proved himself as a person with good personalities: working skills with people, great capacity to work, all these gave to city council a good chance to work in stead of talks. By 1993 year Alexander Nikolayevich was assigned to be a deputy head of Khabarovsk city administration and economic.

There was tough situation in Khabarovsk krai in 1994 year with providing oil products. Incompetence of authority and past privatization all these negatively affected big company in krai “Khabarovsknefteproduct”. Under the threat was a “north delivery”, there were district businesses that experienced difficulties, even emergency services were faced the shortage of oil. In December of 1994 year Alexander Nikolayevich was elected as a general director of the “Khabarovsk nefteproduct”. Now days the company is prospering. Output of product 149% in 1^st half of 2000 year compare to 1999year. For the 1^st half of 2000 year there were paid off 45,8 million roubles to budgets and none budget foundation by businesses.

On the 24^th September of 2000 year was elected as Mayer of Khabarovsk city administration.
